Chant Teacher - Ms. Rayya Abukhader

Ms. Rayya was born in Arizona and is cradle Orthodox, having grown up with a deep love for the Orthodox faith and its traditions. Her love of Byzantine chant began at a very young age, singing alongside her grandfather before she could even speak. She continued to chant with him throughout her life until his passing in 2011, of blessed memory. His influence remains an important part of her love for music, chant, and the Orthodox Church.

Professionally, Ms. Rayya has worked in special education since 2016. In 2020, she became a Certified Behavioral Therapist, continuing her passion for supporting and encouraging children in their growth and development.



In 2025, Ms. Rayya was blessed to join the ASA team, where she has the joy of teaching chant to the fabulous middle school classes. She especially enjoys sharing her love of Orthodox chant with the next generation and helping students discover the beauty and meaning behind this treasured tradition.

When she is not working, Ms. Rayya enjoys spending time with her godchildren, reading, chanting, visiting the monastery, and watching movies at home. Above all, she is grateful for the people, faith, and traditions that have shaped her life and continue to inspire her each day.
