Dear Montessori Parents, We have all adjusted to the routine of school, specialty classes , order and care of our classroom and working on lessons daily!
The focus for this month is Apple, its life cycle, all different kinds of apples and and it's parts as we eat them regularly! We are all observing the fall changes in weather, trees around us and chills!! We love poems as they are another form of expressing one's thoughts and we worked on a poem called, " Apple Chant"! Will try to record it and send it ! I also sent some paper copy of it so the whole family can learn to say it and memorize as well!! Fun project!
We are working on sounds and numbers daily as well! Combinations of ten, skip counting, fractions, all different triangles, binomial and trinomial cubes and practicing number and letters as well!! Rotated the work on the practical life shelves which is a ongoing process as they get comfortable with it.
Montessori goal is hands on activities are very crucial at this age which indirectly benefits the child's learning! Once they are satisfied and content and get to another activity. Repetition is another very important factor in Montessori lessons and I encourage them to ! Watching educational shows for hours on Television is a passive learning and it does not provide much stimulation! We listen to Kinder songs while eating snack, we all dance as well in the mornings to songs, watch fables sometimes and Ancient faith topics by Pres. Katie Tussing!
Our children are constantly cleaning their areas after lunch /snacks and helping others as well. Please engage them daily at home as well! It may take a little longer, it's ok as you are setting expectations! Magic does not happen in a day, routine and discipline will take a long way for future development!!
One afternoon I just took a deep sigh and said so much is happening in our World ... One of my students Luka, promptly says, Ms Padma what if the whole world is like our classroom. Profound statement! Just wanted to share with all as well!! I teared up and said oh how lovely! We are all different: Food we eat , how we think and have different needs and yet we get along for hours in a day, day after day:
Note: We see lots of sniffles, coughing and encourage children to cover and wash or sanitize as and when needed. Showed how to wipe nose and please continue at home as well!! Thank you!! Thank you all for the support , help, trust and encouragement ! With God's grace we will work together and have fun!!
